Hey there Earthlings, Alternatives and Trollers. Put down that mouse and lend an ear. Welcome to The Bandersnatch blog where we talk weird, wacky and wondrous. I'm Mama Ogre and I have no idea what I'm doing.

As you should know Fridays is random blog day were we talk anything and everything and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on the world of fan-fiction.......insert twilight music and lets get into it.

Fan-fiction often abbreviated to Fanfic, Fic or FF is a fictional account of an original piece of work written by a fan not by the author/creator. Fans may use the creators characters, concepts or settings but add many of their own characters, concepts or settings of their own. Fan fiction is a popular form of Fan Labour and whilst rarely commissioned by the creator or publisher its rarely professionally published. Often posted of fan sites such as Fanfiction.net or Ao3, such work can qualify for fair use although it can be considered a breach of copyright and on occasion authors have responded with legal action.

Fan fiction can be defined by the use of the canon universe and have another character view the story form the outside or the Alternative Universe with fans using the characters with switched genders or have the story take another way or have side missions which change the outlook of the story. The earliest considered fan fiction comes from the Sherlockians during the period of 1897 to 1902, when many mourned the supposed “Killing off” of Sherlock Holmes....many wrote stories about the well known detective.

There variety of fan-fiction ideas, genres and terms such as crossovers (other characters, story arks from other works turning up), Dark-fics (The world is usually darker and usually more depressing than the original), Fluff/Waff (Usually includes many uses of warm fluffy feelings), Smut (over sexualised/almost pornographic writing), slash/shipping (characters put together) and many more besides.

I myself tend to read fan fiction because it offers an unseen alternative to a very beloved and much read fiction, movie or TV show. I read many different fan fictions from such genres as Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, The Simpsons, and many others besides. I happen to write fan fiction as well and have written five stories. One is a The Big Bang Theory (TBBT) and the others are Harry Potter Fan fictions with two being crossovers with Game of Thrones and Alice in Wonderland. I love writing fan fiction because it gives me the chance work with my creativity and come up with ideas.

https://www.fanfiction.net/ and https://archiveofourown.org/ are very good websites for fan fiction and I recommend both of them for you to read and look through.

And there you have it, we'll be leaving this here for today. Please be considerate when you leave a comment, share with others if you want or not. Tuesday is book blog day and remember all abuse will be tracked and reported to the appropriate people.

THIS IS THE BANDERSNATCH, I'M MAMA OGRE AND REMEMBER STAY WEIRD, STAY WACKY, STAY WONDEROUS AND I'LL SEE YOU SOON...
