Hey there
Earthlings, Alternatives and Trollers. Put down that mouse and lend
an ear. Welcome to The Bandersnatch blog where we talk weird, wacky
and wondrous. I'm Mama Ogre and I have no idea what I'm doing.
It's the
season of Spooks and Halloween, as such Today is part of Blog-A-Ween,
Today's blog is on
Tricks
and Treats for Trick or Treating and general Halloween Party Food.
TRICKS:
HEAD IN A
JAR:
A newer
trick that can be considered both a decoration and a Jump Scare. The
head in a jar is at its most basic component a printed picture of
someone's head placed in a jar full of coloured water. As a
decoration it can be placed on tables serving food or on tables as
part of a centre peace. The trick part of it comes from the jump
scare by placing it where it shouldn't be such as in fridges, in beds
or in places not expected to be.
JUMP SCARES:
A simple
trick often used in games, movies, haunted houses or simply at home,
jump scares can be both highly effective or a dud depending on the
“Victims” reaction. Jump scares can be anything from jumping out
from a corner, behind a tree or just tapping you on the shoulder and
wearing a mask or costume. Ive done a few jump scares myself the
screams and laughter afterwards are pretty excellent pay-offs for the
set up.
BUGS IN ICE
CUBES:
One of the
easiest tricks in the book, Bugs in Ice cubes can be either plastic
bugs in re freezable cubes or jellied bugs in frozen cubes and are
usually placed in the punch or glasses for prepared drinks. The
screech is often an excellent pay-off.
TREATS:
CANDY
APPLES:
Candy
apples are a staple of Halloween and as such are usually given out as
treats during trick or treating or during the dessert trays of a
Halloween Party. One way to serve Candy Apples is on sticks and
dunked in multi coloured sugar mixes, A second way to serve Candy
Apples is to half apples and hollow them out then fill them with
caramel then slice when the caramel is solid. The third way Candy
Apples can be served is to be sliced into slices and dipped into the
coloured Sugar mixes or mix it up and cover in chocolate then dusted
with toppings such as marshmallows and hundreds of thousands.
BONUS TRICK
CANDY ONIONS: Candy Onions should be Prepared the same way as Candy
Apples and mixed in with the Candy Apples, usually a good trick for
Halloween parties and or for specific people.
JELLO SHOTS:
Jello shots
are a good treat at Halloween especially for parties in particular
and can be made for children or for adults. For children its merely
the flavoured Jelly set in shot cups and for adults various alcohol
can be added to the Jello and be served prepared as proper shots.
PARTY
FOOD:
CAULDRON
CAKES (Harry Potter):
These Harry
Potter themed delights can come in a variety of shapes and sizes and
could be either a Cupcake or a Cookie. A good item for a witchery
party, a themed Halloween party or a Harry Potter one.
DECORATED
COOKIES:
The
simplest party food that can be themed for anything, decorated
cookies can be shaped freehand or via cutters and iced to be like
bats, pumpkins and many other things combined. They can also be
flavoured for Halloween specifically as well.
MUMMY
JALAPENO PEPPERS:
A simple
yet spicy party food. Mummy JalapeƱos are most simply, peppers
deseeded, filled with cheese sauce, wrapped in pastry strips and
cooked in an oven until the pastry puffs up. Very good for those who
love spicy.
