Hey there Earthlings, Alternatives and Trollers. Put down that mouse and lend an ear. Welcome to The Bandersnatch blog where we talk weird, wacky and wondrous. I'm Mama Ogre and I have no idea what I'm doing.

Random blog day boo yah. As you should know Fridays is random blog day were we talk anything and everything and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on the comedian Craig Ferguson.

Ferguson was born in Stobhill hospital in Glasgow to Robert and Janet Ferguson on May 17th 1962. Ferguson attended both Muirfield Primary school and Cumbernauld High school before beginning an apprenticeship to be an electronics technician at the local factory owned by American company Burroughs Corporation at aged 16. Feguson's first experience with entertainment was as the drummer in a rock band called Exposure before joining a punk band headed by Peter Capaldi called The Bastards from Hell later renamed Dreamboys. They regularly played in Glasgow from 1980-1982, Ferguson credits Capaldi as his inspiration for going into comedy.

In the later 1980's Ferguson worked in comedy and spent several years attending the Edinburgh Fringe Festival particularly being a hit in the '86 Fringe. In the early 1990's Ferguson starred on both stage and screen in the likes of One foot in the grave, Red Dwarf, Friday at the dome, The Rocky Horror show and Bad Boy Johnny and the Prophets of Doom. Ferguson moved to the US in 1994 when his soon-to-be agent Rick Siegel saw him in Edinburgh and suggested the move, this had been his second move to America after living in NYC for a year in the '80's.

Ferguson his hit breakthrough as Mr. Wick on the Drew Carey show a role he played from 1996-2003, he used an over-the-top posh English voice “to make up for many generations of English actors doing crap Scottish accents”. During this time Ferguson wasn't idle and spent his off time writing, he wrote and starred in three movies: The Big Tease, Saving Grace and I'll be there, he also directed and for which he won the audience award for best film at the Aspen, Dallas and Valencia film festivals. Ferguson's other acting credits include Niagara Motel, Lenny the Wonder dog, Leminey Snicket's A series of unfortunate events, chain of fools, Born romantic, the ugly truth, Kick-ass, and as a voice actor How to train your dragon 1 and 2, Brave and Winnie the Pooh.

Ferguson succeeded Craig Kilborn on CBS's The late late show. His first show as regular aired on January 3rd 2005. By April 28th 2014 Ferguson announced he would be leaving the late late show with his final episode airing on December 19th 2014, in this time Ferguson had made his mark as a talk show host, implementing a Robot sidekick called Geoff Peterson (voiced by Josh Robert Thompson) and a pantomime horse called Secretariat. Ferguson's contract was set to end in June 2014 but was extended until the end of the year to ease the transition whilst the studio found a replacement who ended up being English Comedian James Cordon.

Ferguson married three times, Ferguson has two son's one with his second wife Sascha Corwin and the other with his third wife Megan Wallace-Cunningham. Ferguson had become an American citizen in 2008 broadcasting the taking of his citizenship test and his swearing in on the late late show having been made an honorary citizen in several states in 2007. After The Late Late Show Ferguson went onto host Celebrity Name Game which ended after 3 years and ended up hosting a historical talk show called Join or Die with Craig Ferguson.

I love Craig Ferguson he's been one of my favourite comedians since I was a teenager and as such I love most of his work I didn't really like him on The Drew Carey Show but I LOVED him on The Late Late Show.
