Hey there Earthlings, Alternatives and Trollers. Put down that mouse and lend an ear. Welcome to The Bandersnatch blog where we talk weird, wacky and wondrous. I'm Mama Ogre and I have no idea what I'm doing.

As you should know Tuesdays is book blog day were we talk about one particular book and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on the book Wolf by Mo Hayder.

When a vagrant—the walking man-- finds a dog wandering alone with the words “HELP US” written on its collar, he's sure its a desperate plea from someone in trouble and calls on Detective Inspector Jack Caffery to investigate. Caffery is reluctant to get involved—until the walking man promises new information regarding the childhood abduction of Caffrey's brother in exchange for the detectives help tracking down the dog's owners. Caffery has no idea who or what he is searching for, but one thing he is sure of it's a race against time.

Meanwhile, the Anchor-Ferrers, a wealthy local family, are fighting for their lives in their remote home ten miles away. Two men have tricked their way into the house and holding the family for ransom. Yet as the captors' demands become increasingly bizarre and humiliating, it becomes clear that this is more than a random crime—it's a personal vendetta.

Published on May 6th 2014, Wolf is the seventh book in the Jack Caffery series. The book like its fellow books was generally well received and was nominated in 2015 for the Edgar Award nominee for Best Novel.

I loved this novel and had to read it three, four times to fully understand both the story as a whole and the twist ending it has. Whilst I won't give the twist away, what I will say about it is it's great writing on Hayder's part and definitely hits it on the nose as being one of the best crime-thrillers of ALL Crime-thrillers. I highly recommend this book to any book lovers not just to crime/thriller readers and give the book a 9/10.

For the history and my opinion of the book's Author Mo Hayder, Please head to the previous book club blog on Poppet (released 14/04/2020).
