Hey there Earthlings, Alternatives and Trollers. Put down that mouse and lend an ear. Welcome to The Bandersnatch blog where we talk weird, wacky and wondrous. I'm Mama Ogre and I have no idea what I'm doing.

Random blog day boo yah. As you should know Fridays is random blog day were we talk anything and everything and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on the children's TV show Bernards Watch.

Bernard's Watch tells the story of a young boy called Bernard who is always late until a postman gives him a magical watch which could stop and rewind time. Bernard finds out the postman had magical powers and not only would he hand out watches to those who needed them but there are rules for keeping the watch such as not committing crimes or hurting anyone. Each episode focused on Bernard or those he'd lent the watch to facing a problem and solving it with the watch. With the last two seasons the story (and cast) changed with Bernard receiving the Watch by it simply flying through his window and it being the only watch in existence, Bernard used the watch to get the better of bullies at his school a student called Nicollette and a teacher Ms Yvonne Savage.

Bernards Watch was created by Andrew Norriss a British author and TV writer and Directed by David Cobham, The show went onto have 7 seasons from running from 1997-2001 and 2004-2005 as well as having two casts, the shows name was changed for the seventh and final season from Bernards Watch to Bernard. The show was run by various Networks over its seven seasons ITV Network (CITV), RTE2, KBC, BFBS and SABC2.

Andrew Norriss was educated at St. Johns, Leatherhead and Trinity College, Dublin before training for his PGCE(teacher training) at the University of Winchester. After finishing his training in 1974 Norriss went onto teach History at Peter Symonds College, Winchester and whilst teaching started writing TV sitcoms and Comedy dramas for children. Currently Norriss, having retired from giving talks at schools and libraries is still writing and has a published book as of 2015 called Jessica's Ghost.

To me the show had a weird concept even for kids TV, however during it's run each episode was pretty good with decent actors, even with the cast and storyline change for the last two seasons although I do believe the second storyline could have been a little better. I loved watching the show due to the concept of a magic watch controlling time and definitely recommend the show to those with families and love getting their nostalgia kick on. Over all I give the show an 8/10.
