Hey there Earthlings, Alternatives and Trollers. Put down that mouse and lend an ear. Welcome to The Bandersnatch blog where we talk weird, wacky and wondrous. I'm Mama Ogre and I have no idea what I'm doing.

Random blog day boo yah. As you should know Fridays is random blog day were we talk anything and everything and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on the children's TV show The Queen's Nose.

The Queens nose followed the story of Harmony Parker a 10 year old who loves animals and at heart wants a pet although her parents dont like animals, Harmony has a deep love of pets and often sees those around her as animals such as her 15 year old sister Melody as a Siamese Cat, her mother as a Pouter Pigeon and her father a Sea-Lion, One day Harmony receives a magical coin from a relative that grants her seven wishes.

The Queens Nose TV show was based off the book of the same name written by Dick King-Smith, and followed the book pretty closely in its adaption. The show went onto have 7 series during its run from the 15th of November 1995 to 16th of December 2003. the show was developed by the BBC and ran during the CBBC time slot. During the series run between 200-2003 there was some casting changes but had various members of the Parker family to maintain some continuity despite the departure from the Novel. The show was also broadcast in Germany under the name of Die Magische Munze (The Magic Coin).

The book the show is based on, The Queens Nose was first published on 10th February 1983 in the UK by British publishers Gollancz with the illustrations by illustrator Jill Bennett. The book has gone onto be republished several times over the years along with three paperbacks tied to the subsequently named TV show The Queens Nose.

Dick King-Smith born Ronald Gordan King-Smith on 27th March 1922 was a prolific English writer of children's books, most Prominent is 1983's The Sheep-Pig (Babe the Gallant Pig in the US) which was adapted as the 1995 movie Babe. King-Smith was a soldier in WW2, a farmer for 20 years before becoming a primary school teacher and an author. His first book was The Fox Busters published in 1978. King-Smith by the time of his death on 4th January 2011 had not only become a prolific writer but had married twice (Myrle 1943-2000-her death- and Zona Bedding 2001-2011-his death), had 3 children, 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Just like Bernards watch, the queens nose is one of those shows whose concept is super weird even for children's TV, which is why it was probably made for children's TV. I will admit that I wanted a magic coin as a kid and I'm pretty sure a few of my friends and family members wanted one too. Overall the queens nose is a semi-decent show with a semi-decent cast. I highly recommend this show to families and those looking for a nostalgia kick, this show will definitely hit you in the feels if you were a 90's kid. I give the show overall a 7/10.
