Hey there Earthlings, Alternatives and Trollers. Put down that mouse and lend an ear. Welcome to The Bandersnatch blog where we talk weird, wacky and wondrous. I'm Mama Ogre and I have no idea what I'm doing.

As you should know Tuesdays is book blog day were we talk about one particular book and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman.

Neil Gaiman, long inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction, presents a bravura rendition of the Norse gods and their world from their origin through their upheaval in Ragnarök.

In Norse Mythology, Gaiman stays true to the myths in envisioning the major Norse Pantheon: Odin, the highest of the high, wise, daring and cunning: Thor, Odin's son, an incredibly strong yet not the wisest of gods; and Loki -son of a giant- blood brother to Odin and a trickster and unsurpassable manipulator

In my opinion the book is well written,as if spoken out loud by a bard/storyteller. Great for research purposes both educational or religious, (I.e School or Witchcraft/Wicca/paganism). I highly recommend the book to not only those who love reading but those who love mythology, researching topics in general and those who follow an alternate faith path, the book gets a 9/10.

The book was published by W. W. Norton & Company on February 7th 2017, An Audiobook was released in later February narrated by Gaiman himself, including Derek Jacobi as Odin, Natalie Dormer as Freya, Colin Morgan as Loki and Nathaniel Martello-White as Thor. Dark Horse Comics are currently adapting the book as an eighteen issue comic series.

Neil Gaiman, an English author of short fiction, non fiction comics and more, was born on November 10th 1960 to a family of Polish-Jewish decent, with his great-grandfather emigrating from Antwerp, Belgium before 1914, Gaiman's father David worked in a chain of grocery stores, his mother Sheila was a pharmacist, Gaiman also has two sisters, Claire and Lizzy. Gaiman's won numerous awards for his work including the Hugo, Nebula, and Bram Stoker awards. In 2013 his book The Ocean at the End of the Lane was voted Book of the Year in the British National Book Awards.
