Hey there Earthlings, Alternatives and Trollers. Put down that mouse and lend an ear. Welcome to The Bandersnatch blog where we talk weird, wacky and wondrous. I'm Mama Ogre and I have no idea what I'm doing.

As you should know Tuesdays is book blog day were we talk about one particular book and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on the Disney Twisted Tale Reflection by Elizabeth Lim.

What If Mulan had to travel to the Underworld?

When Captain Shang is Mortally wounded by Shan Yu in battle, Mulan must travel tot he Underworld, Diyu, in order to save him from certain death, but King Yama, the ruler of Diyu, is not willing to give Shang up so easily.

With the help of Shang's great Lion Guardian ShiShi, Mulan must travel across Diyu to find Shang's Spirit, face Harrowing obstacles and leave by sunrise – or become King Yama's prisoner forever.

Moreover, Mulan is still disguised as the soldier called Ping, wrestling with the decision to reveal her true identity to her closest friend.

Will Mulan save Shang before its too late? Will he ever be able to trust her again? or will she lose him and be lost in the underworld forever?

A great version of the Mulan story and having the twist that Mulan must prove herself to the ancestors in a spiritual battle on top of saving china rather than specifically with the army and the emperor as a whole is great. It definitely gives the story more weight in the fantastical. Highly recommended to Disney lovers and fairytale lovers and its given an 8/10.

Author Elizabeth Lim grew up listening to a hearty blend of myths, songs and fairy tales with her passion for storytelling beginning around ten years old, when she started writing fan fiction for Sailor Moon, Sweet Valley, and Star Wars. When posting them online Lim discovered “Wow, people actually read my stuff. And that's kinda cool!” But after one of her teachers told her she had “Too much voice” in her essays, Lim took a break from creative writing to focus on not flunking English.

After school Lim went onto become a film and video game composer, even going so far as to get a music composition doctorate, however she missed writing and often used writing as a breather from Grad school. This prompted Lim to write and finish a novel for the kicks, a decision that changed her life and made her an author. She hasn't looked back. Lim currently lives in NYC with her husband.
