Hey there Earthlings, Alternatives and Trollers. Put down that mouse and lend an ear. Welcome to The Bandersnatch blog where we talk weird, wacky and wondrous. I'm Mama Ogre and I have no idea what I'm doing.

Random blog day boo yah. As you should know Fridays is random blog day were we talk anything and everything and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on the 2002 Movie Catch me if you can.

Catch Me if you Can is a 2002 American biographical crime movie directed by Steven Spielberg with screenplay writer Jeff Nathanson. The film is based on the life of Frank Abagnale, who before his 19th birthday, successfully performed cons worth millions of dollars. He posed as a Pan Am Pilot, a Georgia Doctor and a Louisiana parish Prosecutor. Hi foremost crime was check fraud of which be became so skilled that the FBI would later turn to him for help catching other forgers.

The film took several years to get to the screen due to development issues, several directors were considered to direct including Cameron Crowe and Gore Verbinski, however Spielberg eventually decided to film it himself. The filming took place from February to May of 2002.

Catch me if you can was released on December 25th 2002, earning above $30 million across 3,225 theatres its opening weekend. The movie was a financial success as well as a critical success having received a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes receiving good reviews in general with many liking DiCaprio in his character. The movie received two nominations at the 75th Academy Awards for Christopher Walken and John Williams for Best Supporting Actor and Best Original Score respectively.

I wasn't aware of the movie when it came out at the time due to the fact I was twelve at the time. I did watch it several years later and I do admit I did struggle watching it in full and it has taken several watches to completely watch it in its entirety. I personally think the movie is OK but could have been better. I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone and give the movie a 4/10.
