Hey there Earthlings, Alternatives and Trollers. Put down that mouse and lend an ear. Welcome to The Bandersnatch blog where we talk weird, wacky and wondrous. I'm Mama Ogre and I have no idea what I'm doing.

Random blog day boo yah. As you should know Fridays is random blog day were we talk anything and everything and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is a Travelodge review

Well I had gone back to East Grinstead and spent time with family a weekend or two back and as such had booked a Travelodge for the weekend as to not be a bother on said family and here's what I think on it. The room was rather small for what it was and since we had two people staying in the room it did make it feel all the more smaller. The bed was comfortable and I have to admit I liked the bathroom more than the one with Premier Inn. The issues I have with Premier Inn however is how awkward it is to get into. The entrance isn't where it should realistically be at the front of the building but at the side opposite one of the local pubs (Ironically a Weatherspoons). Another downer is the fact Travelodge only offers cold breakfast boxes and not a sit down breakfast, so ill be giving this particular Travelodge a 5/10.

Travelodge started off in the US and in the early 1970's, Charles Forte brought the US Travelodge brand with the hopes of establishing it in Britain, the first Travelodge's were opened in 1973 and in 1976 their counterparts Little Chef Lodges were opened beside Little Chef Lodges. These were combined and rebranded later to become Forte Travelodge. In 1995 Travelodge was bought by Granada and the position of the hotels were taken away from the roadside and urbanised. Almost 10 years later in 2003 Travelodge was sold to Permira who created a parent group for the hotels and began a buying spree, moving the headquarters from Toddington in Bedfordshire to Thame in Oxfordshire in the process.

In 2006, Travelodge was finally split from Little Chef and sold to a UAE based company DIC for £675 million and by mid 2010 Travelodge bout 52 Innkeepers Lodge properties and by 2011 announced a tie in with Waitrose to develop three joint sites in the UK. Travelodge went through some Financial restructuring in 2012 due to a large debt of £478 million pounds resulting in a bailout package being prepared with £75 million pounds being interjected into the company and the debt being reduced due to some being written off and another part being paid, several hotels (up to 49% -which received new operators) being transferred elsewhere, a refurbishment on several of the remaining hotels.
