As you should know Tuesdays is book blog day were we talk about one particular book and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on Great Expectations by Charles Dickens

Humble, Orphaned Pip is apprenticed to the dirty work of the forge but dares to dream of becoming a gentleman- and one day under sudden and enigmatic circumstances, he finds himself in possession of “Great Expectations”.

- Great Expectations Goodreads page.

Great Expectations was originally published through serialisation in 1860 to 1861 through the weekly periodical All Year Round, it became book form in 1861 thanks to publishers Chapman and Hall. This is one book that whilst its considered a great classic and I admit I feel its definitely a good book and a classic.....I just don't like it. I struggle to read it despite understanding a good chunk of the story I do recommend the book to those who love most of the great classics and give the book a 5/10.

Charles John Huffam Dickens was born in Portsmouth, England on February 7th 1812 and after suffering a bad childhood in a debters prison thanks to his father went onto become a well known writer and critic, editing a weekly journal for 20 years and publishing 15 novels, 5 novellas and hundreds of short stories and non-fiction articles. This made Dickens considered the greatest novelist of the Victorian era. Dickens Novels are widely recognised, read and adapted today. Dickens died on June 9th 1870, happily knowing his work was widely popular.
