Hey there Earthlings, Alternatives and Trollers. Put down that mouse and lend an ear. Welcome to The Bandersnatch blog where we talk weird, wacky and wondrous. I'm The Bandersnatch and I have no idea what I'm doing.

As you should know Tuesdays is book blog day were we talk about one particular book and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens.

After running away from the workhouse and pompous beadle Mr Bumble, Oliver finds himself lured into a den of thieves peopled by vivid and memorable characters. The Artful Dodger, vicious burglar Bill Sikes, his dog bull's eye and prostitute Nancy all watched over by cunning master thief Fagin.

  • Oliver Twist Goodreads page

Oliver Twist was Serialised in Bentleys Miscellany from 1837 to 1839 and was in book form in 1838 thanks to publishers Richard Bentley. I've always liked Oliver Twist and occasionally read it when the whim takes me, I love the musical and movie adaptions of said book. I recommend the book to those with book loving children and I give the book a 7/10.

Charles John Huffam Dickens was born in Portsmouth, England on February 7th 1812 and after suffering a bad childhood in a debters prison thanks to his father went onto become a well known writer and critic, editing a weekly journal for 20 years and publishing 15 novels, 5 novellas and hundreds of short stories and non-fiction articles. This made Dickens considered the greatest novelist of the Victorian era. Dickens Novels are widely recognised, read and adapted today. Dickens died on June 9th 1870, happily knowing his work was widely popular.
