Hey there Earthlings, Alternatives and Trollers. Put down that mouse and lend an ear. Welcome to The Bandersnatch blog where we talk weird, wacky and wondrous. I'm The Bandersnatch and I have no idea what I'm doing.

As you should know Tuesdays is book blog day were we talk about one particular book and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on the book Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin.

Mr Bennet of Longbourn estate has five daughters, but his property is entailed and can only be passed to a male heir. His wife lacks an inheritance, so his family will be destitute upon his death. Thus, it is imperative that at least one of the girls marry well to support the others, which is a motivation that drives the plot. The novel revolves around the importance of marrying for love rather than money or social prestige, despite the communal pressure to make a wealthy match.

Pride and Prejudice has always been one of those books that's been hard to finish reading for me. At least once a year I try to read and finish the book in a short amount of time but I struggle with it. However I do appreciate the themes of the book being that of love vs convenience, consideration of wealth and status, being prideful verses being prejudiced. As such I give the book a 7/10.

Jane Austin was born in Steventon Hampshire, on December 16th 1775. she was born a month later than her parents expected, with her father remarking her mother “Certainly expected to have been brought to bed a month ago” he also added that her arrival was particularly welcome as a “future companion to her sister”. Jane was baptised in April 1776 with the single name of Jane, due to the winter weather being particularly harsh. As she became an adult Austin became known as an English novelist primarily known for her six major novels which interpret, critique and comment upon the British landed Gentry. Austin passed away on July 18th 1817 after spending year feeling unwell. Its supposed Austin could have passed away from either Addison's disease or Hodgkin's lymphoma.
