Hey there Earthlings, Alternatives and Trollers. Put down that mouse and lend an ear. Welcome to The Bandersnatch blog where we talk weird, wacky and wondrous. I'm The Bandersnatch and I have no idea what I'm doing.

Random blog day boo yah. As you should know Fridays is random blog day were we talk anything and everything and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on the kids TV show Horrible Histories.

Horrible Histories is a British Children's live action historical and musical sketch comedy TV series based on the British book series of the same name written by author Terry Deary which was first published in 1993 by Scholastic UK said book series has expanded into a multimedia franchise. The show was produced for CBBC by Lion Television with Citrus Television and ran for five seasons from 2009 to 2014. an additional one off season and several Olympic specials happened during 2015.

The main troupe of actors are Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard, Sarah Hadland and Ben Willbond, alongside a large supporting cast headed by Katy Wix, Lawry Lewin, Alice Lowe and Dominique Moore. The host was a black rat puppet known as Rattus Rattus who appears in short segments between each sketch to help explain and understand the historical fact of each sketch. The cast had been hired from various comedy and sketch shows including Gavin and Stacy, Peep Show and The Mighty Boosh amongst several others. The writers also ended up in front of the screen once in a while remarkably Laurence Rickard whose portrayal of the character Bob Hale couldn't be handed off to another due to the extended convoluted monologues he wrote. The actors followed Rickard in the sense of specific characters became their staple point during the shows run, such as Baynton's Charles 2nd, Howick's Shouty man, Willbond's Henry 8th, Howe-Douglas's Elizabeth 1st, Farnaby's death and Hadland's Victoria, these reoccurring characters plus the material lent to an environment of quick fire comedy rather than repeat of the same words.

I LOVE Horrible Histories partially due to the fact I am a lover of history and the fact the show was pretty hilarious during its run. I find myself heading onto Youtube and occasionally BBC IPlayer to watch both specific moments and full episodes. My favourate moment is the kings and Queens of England song and I love Jim Howick's Shouty Man character. I highly recommend the TV show to EVERYONE especially those with kids and give the show a 9.5/10.
