Hey there Earthlings, Alternatives and Trollers. Put down that mouse and lend an ear. Welcome to The Bandersnatch blog where we talk weird, wacky and wondrous. I'm The Bandersnatch and I have no idea what I'm doing.

As you should know Tuesdays is book blog day were we talk about one particular book and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on the historical fiction book: The Boleyn Inheritance by Phillipa Gregory.

Three Women Who Share One Fate: The Boleyn Inheritance.

Anne of Cleves

She runs from her tiny country, her hateful mother, and her abusive brother to a throne whose last three occupants are dead. King Henry VIII, her new husband instantly dislikes her. Without friends, family, or even an understanding of the language being spoken around her, she must literally save her neck in a court ruled by a deadly game of politics and the terror of an unpredictable and vengeful king. Her Boleyn Inheritance: accusations and false witnesses.

Katherine Howard

She catches the king's eye within moments of arriving at court, setting in motion the dreadful machine of politics, intrigue, and treason that she does nit understand. She only knows that she is beautiful, that men desire her, that is is young and in love-- but not with the disease old man who made her queen, beds her night after night, and killed her cousin Anne. Her Boleyn Inheritance the threat of the axe.

Jane Rochford

She is the Boleyn girl whose testimony sent her husband and sister-in-law to their deaths. She is the trusted friend of two threatened queens, the perfectly loyal spy for her uncle, the Duke of Norfolk, and a canny survivor in the murderous court of a most dangerous king. Throughout Europe, her name is a byword for malice, jealousy and twisted lust. Her Boleyn Inheritance: a fortune and a title, in exchange for her soul.

The Boleyn Inheritance is a sequel to The Other Boleyn Girl and part of the six book Tudor series by author Phillipa Gregory. The Boleyn Inheritance was published in 2006 by publishers Touchstone. I had the previous book The Other Boleyn girl and have not only read it (a blog has been written and posted on May 19th 2020). but watched the movie and made for TV movie of it. However it did take me some time to give it a read and as such it wasn't my favourite book to read. The book does have its strong points and having each woman Anne of Cleaves, Katherine Howard and Jane Parker/Boleyn having their own moments in the book as seen through their own eyes as well as their interactions with others. The cons of the book were some of the historical inaccuracies but due to the fact the book is historical fiction so I'm not as mad as I could be. I definitely recommend this book to all of those who love historical fiction specifically from the Tudor era and I give the book a 6/10.

Author Phillipa Gregory was born on January 9th 1954 in Nairobi, Kenya the second daughter of Elaine and Arthur Gregory. The family moved to Bristol, England when Gregory was two years old. Gregory obtained her education up to A-0levels at Colston's Girl's school where she was considered a “Rebel”, Gregory went onto journalism college in Cardiff before spending a year as an apprentice at the Portsmouth newspaper and gaining a place at the University of Sussex in an English literature degree (this was changed to a history degree later on). Gregory worked with BBC radio for two years before heading to the University of Edinburgh to earn a doctorate in 18th century literature. During this time Gregory wrote her first novel Wideacre (published in 1987). Gregory has taught at both the university of Durham and the University of Teesside as well as the open university and in 1994 was made a fellow of Kingston University whilst writing several popular novels as well as children's books on the side, she also has a pen name, that of Kate Wedd.
