Hey there Earthlings, Alternatives and Trollers. Put down that mouse and lend an ear. Welcome to The Bandersnatch blog where we talk weird, wacky and wondrous. I'm The Bandersnatch and I have no idea what I'm doing.

Random blog day boo yah. As you should know Fridays is random blog day were we talk anything and everything and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on the TV show Murder She Wrote.

Murder she wrote is an American crime drama TV series, Starring Dame Angela Lansbury and created by Peter S. Fischer, Richard Levinson and William Link with Universal Television producing it and distributing it via the CBS Network. Running for 12 seasons for a total of 264 episodes the show focuses on the life of Jessica Fletcher, a mystery writer and amateur director who often finds herself becoming involved in a series of murders that through most of which are set in the fictional town of Cabot Cove, Maine, with various episodes set across the US and abroad.

Tom Bosley, William Windom and Ron Masak are amongst the reoccurring cast with Michael Horton, Keith Michell and Julie Adams included in the guest cast. After S12 in 1996 four TV films followed between 1997 and 2003, with two point-and-click games being released for pc in 2009 and 2012 along with a spin-off book, which continues publication at present.

During its broadcast Ratings were a hit, effectively becoming a CBS stable on Sunday night TV for near a decade, averaging around 30 million views per week in its prime. For her role in the Program Lansbury was nominated for 10 golden globes, winning 4 in the process along with earning 12 Emmy nominations, earning the record for the most Golden Globe and Emmy nominations. The series itself also received three Emmy nominations for outstanding drama series, as well as six golden globe nominations in the same category, with two major wins.

I loved watching Murder she wrote as a kid, I think it was because it was a show which focused on solving murders that did focus on a lot of character development and emotional history, each murder was done for a reason and wasn't completely senseless like with several murders in real life. Plus Dame Angela Lansbury is one of my favourite actresses so It was great to see her in a weekly show. Since the show went for only 12 seasons (Due to Lansbury wanting to slow down...i don't really blame her), I do feel it could have gone on longer and evolved to having a new writer in a new area, maybe a relation to Jessica Fletcher however we have the 12 seasons so I cant complain too much, as such I give Murder she Wrote as a whole 8.5/10.

Dame Angela Brigid Lansbury (DBE) was born on October 16th 1925 to an upper-middle-class family in central London, the daughter of of Irish actress Moyna Macgill and English politician Edgar Lansbury. Lansbury moved to the US to escape the Blitz during WW2. She went on to study acting in NYC before securing a contract with MGM in 1942 and her first two movies Gaslight in 1944 and The Picture of Dorian Grey in 1945, which earned her two Oscar nominations and a golden globe award. Lansbury gained minor roles in a further 11 MGM movies before her contract ended in 1952 to which she took on Theatre roles to supplement her work. Though considered a b-list actor at this time Lansbury received worldwide acclaim for her appearance in the 1962 movie The Manchurian Candidate, this performance which was cited as being one of her finer performances led to her third Academy award nomination. Lansbury finally gained stardom with the leading role in the broadway musical Mame in 1966, which earned her both her first Tony and cemented her as a Gay Icon. Lansbury's career has spanned over 80 years and upon the death of Olivia De Hayilland in July of 2020, Lansbury became the oldest Academy Award Nominee and one of the last stars of the golden age of Hollywood Cinema.
