As you should know Tuesdays is book blog day were we talk about one particular book and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on the ghost story writers H. P. Lovecraft well known for The Call of Cthulhu, and Stephan King well known for IT and The Shining.


H. P. LOVECRAFT


Born in Rhode Island on August 20th 1890, Howard Phillips Lovecraft was an American writer of the weird, Science, Fantasy and the Horror Fiction Genre's, he's best known for his creation of the Cthulhu mythos. However, He began his job writing Essays for the UAPA (United American Press Association) and wrote a critical letter to a pulp magazine which led to his involvement in Pulp Fiction. However Lovecraft's main source of storytelling came from the Horror and Science Fiction genres of which The Call of Cthulhu, At the Mountains of Madness, The shadow over Innsmouth and The shadow out of time.


Lovecraft was relatively unknown during his lifetime with his works appearing in pulp magazines, Weird Tales amongst them. He did however correspond regularly with other contemporary writers such as August Derleth and Clark Ashton Smith who he became good friends with despite not meeting. This group would become known as Lovecraft's circle in which they would exchange motifs with each others encouragement. Lovecraft would remain an active writer until his death on

March 5th 1937 due to Intestinal Cancer at the age of 46.


STEPHAN KING


Stephan King born on September 21st 1947 is an American author with numerous novels spanning the Horror, Supernatural fiction, Suspense, Crime fiction, Science-Fiction and Fantasy genres earning his title as the “King of Horror” (a combined play on his surname and reference to his standing in pop culture).


King has received various awards for his work including Bram stoker, World fantasy and British Fantasy, he was awarded the Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters by The National Book Foundation In 2003. King also won the 2004 World Fantasy award for life achievement and in 2007 he was given the Grand Master award from the Mystery Writers of America in 2015. due to his contributions to literature King was also awarded with a National medal of Arts from the US National Endowment for the Arts.


King has published 64 novels under his own name along with 7 others under the pen name Richard Bachman alongside 5 non-fiction books as well as 200 short stories of which most have been published in book collections.
