As you should know Tuesdays is book blog day were we talk about one particular book and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on the book Strange case of DR Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson.

The Strange case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is an 1886 Gothic Horror Novella written by Scottish Author Robert Louis Stevenson. The story follows Gabriel John Utterson, a London-based Legal practitioner who has to investigate a series of strange and unusual occurrences between his old friend Dr Henry Jekyll and that of a murderous criminal named Edward Hyde. The Novella is one of England's most famous pieces of Literature and is considered a defining book of the Gothic Horror Genre with a sizeable impact on popular culture. The phrase “Jekyll and Hyde” being used in vernacular for people with dual natures of being outwardly good and shockingly evil in nature.

Robert Louis Stevenson (born Robert Lewis Balfour Stevenson, November 13th 1850 - October 3rd 1984), was born and educated in Edinburgh and became an extremely well known Scottish Novelist, essayist, Poet and Travel writer the latter in defiance of poor lung health. As a young man he mixed within London Literary Circles, receiving much encouragement from the likes of Sidney Colvin, Edmund Gosse and W. E Henley to name a few, with Henley being reported to have provided the inspiration for Long John Silver in Treasure Island. In 18990 having settled in Samoa, Louis Stevenson grew alarmed at the increasing influence from European and American forces in the south sea islands and turned his writing from the Romance and Adventure fiction towards a more darker realism. Louis Stevenson would pass away at the age of 44 due to a stroke.
