As you should know Tuesdays is book blog day were we talk about one particular book and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on Heart of Iron by C. M. Alongi.
Jennifer Charles (JC) has sort of figured out their life. They're two months out of prison, clean and sober and just got a job at a coffee shop: Cafae Latte, owned by the mysterious and powerful fairy who goes by Violet. They're getting along with their knife-happy co-worker and have even started dating one of the regulars who practices witchcraft.
But JC is not the only one with a dark past. When Violet's Fae Realm enemies come for revenge. They frame JC for their crimes, putting their new life in jeopardy. With Violet missing and everyone blaming the ex-con, JC will have to face their own chequered past, Confederate vampires and shapeshifting fairies to save their boss and themselves.
Meanwhile, Violet would like to remind the Fae why they call her the Iron Witch.
Heart of Iron Summery
I loved this book, and waited patiently for its release which was on October 7th 2025....and I read it within twenty four hours. I found out this book was being written when I watched C. M. Alongi on TikTok and her series Cafae Latte. Whilst you don't need to see the TikTok series to read the book I think knowing the series enhances the reading experience. As such I give the book a 9/10.
Christina Marie Alongi earned a bachelors in History and Social Justice from Hamline University in 2017 and after graduating she worked as a community support staff for people with disabilities for over two years, including those with autism. This work helped inspire the main character for her debut sci-fi novel Citadel. In addition to writing Alongi created the Tiktok series Cafae Latte, the inspiration for the book above Heart of Iron. When shes not writing Alongi is crocheting, walking long walks and defending the furniture from her fellow Room-mates Cats.
