Hey there Earthlings, Alternatives and Trollers. Put down that mouse and lend an ear. Welcome to The Bandersnatch blog where we talk weird, wacky and wondrous. I'm The Bandersnatch and I have no idea what I'm doing.

Random blog day boo yah. As you should know Fridays is random blog day were we talk anything and everything and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on Dungeons and Dragons.

Dungeons and Dragons AKA D&D/DnD is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) was originally created and designed by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, the game was first published in 1974 by Tactical Studies Rules (TSR) and was later published by Wizards of the Coast (a later subsidiary of Hasbro since 1997). D&D was originally derived from miniature wargames with a variation of the initial rules of 1971's Chainmail. D&D publication lead to being publicly recognised as the beginning of modern day's role playing games, including the role playing video games.

D&D doesn't follow traditional wargaming, it allows each player to create their own character instead of using a military formation to create their own characters to play, said characters embark upon adventures in a fantasy setting. A Dungeon Master or DM serves the combined role of Referee and storyteller for each game, whilst maintaining the settings (and encounters of non-playable characters - NPC's- they encounter) in which the adventures occur. The characters form a party and interact with the setting whilst solving problems, engaging in battle, explore whilst gathering treasure and knowledge. In the process the characters the characters gain experience and earn special perks and abilities every few levels.
