Random blog day boo yah. As you should know Fridays is random blog day were we talk anything and everything and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on Dona Beja.

Ana Jacinta de Sao Jose also known as Dona Beja born on January 2^nd 1800 and grew up in Araxa, Brazil from the age of five. Growing up Ana's beauty was known to cause irritation in women and enchanted men. Ana received the nickname of Beja from her grandmother comparing it to sweetness and the “Kiss” flower.

In 1915 Ana was kidnapped by the King's ombudsman, Joaquim Inacio Silveira da Motta and resided in Vila de Paracatu do Principe as his lover. When she returned to Rio de Janeiro at the request of Dom Joao VI, when she returned home to Araxa, she faced a hostile enviorment from the local conservative society who didn't see her as a victim but as a seductive women. Ana set up a brothel and worked for several years. She left Araxa in 1853 with her daughter and spent the rest of her life in Estrela Do Sul, where she was said to have made a fortune by trading gold diamond. On December 20^th 1873 of Nephritis -inflammation of the Kidneys- and was buried in a coffin decorated in Zinc. A coffin that was suspected to have been found during construction for a fountain in Estrela Do Dul in 2011. There is a museum named Dona Beja Museum in Araxa.

There have been three Telenovelas on Dona Beja, a Brazilian Telanovela in 1986 directed by Herval Rossano, a Columbian Remake in 2010 that was produced by Telefurtura and a TV miniseries released by HBO Brasil in 2026.
