Criminal Minds Evolution (Criminal Minds S16-19).

Random blog day boo yah. As you should know Fridays is random blog day were we talk anything and everything and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on Criminal Minds Evolution.

The original run of Criminal Minds ran from September 22^nd 2005 to February 19^th 2020 running up to 15 seasons.

On November 25^th 2022 Season 16 now named Criminal Minds Evolution follows the Behavioural Analysis Unit (The BAU) as they uncover and attempt to disband a serial killer network set up by one named Sicarius during the Covid-19 Pandemic, there has been three more seasons since then, with S17 (2024) focusing on the fallout of capturing Voit and the reveal of Gold Star which the higher ups of the FBI tried to bury. S18 (2025) goes through the fallout of Voit loosing his memory after being attacked and proving to a degree hes come out a better person for it and S19 (2026) shows both Voit has genuinely changed and the team deals with a Fan of his due to a serial killer podcast.

My favourite episodes of S16 are E2 “Sicarius” and E6 “Oedipus Wrecks”.

In E2 “Sicarius” the team covers a case where victims are killed via severed spinal cords and finds it ties into the serial killer network they've become aware of. In E6 “Oedipus Wrecks” The team finds out the victims are not only linked to the serial killer network but to the son of a local politician, who is also funding the network. My favourite character is Senator Reeves played by Beth Brodewick who also played Aunt Zelda in Sabrina the Teenage Witch (1996-2003).

My favourite episodes of S17 are E3 “Homesick” and E8 “North Star”..

In E3 “Home sick” the team has to deal with the news of conspiracy theories of Director Baileys death whilst dealing with a new case where people are being killed as they move into new homes and trying to get Elias Voit to co-operate. My favourite Character is Sydney Voit played by Kiele Sanchez, she does very well in this episode. In E8 “North Star” the team is split into three with most of the team trying to get ahead of the unsubs tied to Gold Star, Rossi trying to get Jill to spill the information about Gold star and Tara alongside Rebecca try to get leverage on Voit's lawyer. I also like the character of Director Ray Madison played by Clark Gregg who also played Agent Coulson in the MCU and Agents of Shield.

My favourite episode of S18 is the Finale E10 “The Disciple”. The whole series secondary plot line that follows Voit as he and the team deals with the fallout of having amnesia is finally dealt with in this episode as it shows he's a changed man despite the memories and desires of being Sicarius come back.

My favourite episodes of S19 are E5 “Friendly Fire”, E7 “The Furies” and E10 “Bad Blood”.

In E5 “Friendly Fire” The team aids another department when an FBI Instructor known personally by Alvez is killed by a member of the team, I like this episode because it shows Alvez's background and how he's grown since joining the BAU. In E7 “The Furies” The team deals with a case of Policemen being killed by two women due to the policemen being jackasses and filming them being SA'd. The sub plot of Garcia and Rossi being estranged due to Garcia having vouched for Voit during his trial is an aid in this episode, cause it shows how badass and kind Garcia can be and sometimes you need kindness with an Unsub.

In E10 “Bad Blood” The team learns of Voit's escape and follows him to where The Fan has his daughter. I quite like the fact that Voit proves he is a fully changed man by not killing anyone as he rescues his daughter and takes the blame for killing The Fan.

My favourite character overall of S19 is Director Ray Madison played by Clark Gregg who also played Agent Phil Coulson in the MCU and Agents of Shield. Whilst the character made his Debut in S17, S19 is where I think his character shines and shows another side of himself. Especially in reaction to Voit and the journey he goes on.
