Random blog day boo yah. As you should know Fridays is random blog day were we talk anything and everything and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on the Scream franchise.

Scream is a popular America slasher franchise which includes seven movies, a TV series, games and merchandise which has grossed over 1.1 billion dollars at the box office. The first movie was released in 1996 with the seventh being released in 2026.

Kevin Williamson created the series and wrote the first two films along with the fourth, Williamson was also the executive producer on the fifth and sixth movies before he'd go onto direct and co-wrote the seventh movie. Wes Craven directed the first four movies. Ehren Kruger wrote the third movie, Guy Busick and James Vanderbilt co-wrote the fifth and sixth movies under directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. Busick and Vanderbilt also co-wrote the seventh movie. The cast across the whole franchise includes Courtney Cox, David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Matthew Lillard, Jamie Kennedy, Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown.

Dimension Films produced the first four movies with Dimension Television producing the TV series. Spyglass Media Group took over the production rights from the fifth movie with distribution being done by Paramount Pictures.

The first four movies of the Scream franchise follow Sidney Prescott and the succession of murderers using Ghostface -often motivated by revenge, jealousy or seeking notoriety- to stalk and kill their victims. Sidney is aided primarily by policemen Dewey Riley, Tabloid reporter Gale Weathers and film geeks Randy Meeks and Kirby Reed. The fifth and sixth movies follow the carpenter sisters Samantha and Tara who are the targets of Ghostface due to their connection to the original killers, their aided by friends Mindy and Chad Meeks-Martin -niece and nephew of Randy Meeks and some of the original suvivors as they deal with new Ghostface murderers. The seventh Movie once again follows Sidney as she, her daughter Tatum and Tatum's friends deal with a new stalker.
