Hey there Earthlings, Alternatives and Trollers. Put down that mouse and lend an ear. Welcome to The Bandersnatch blog where we talk weird, wacky and wondrous. I'm Mama Ogre and I have no idea what I'm doing.

As you should know by now, Fridays is random/fun blog day were we talk anything and everything and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on three different Conspiracy Theories, Jack Dawson from Titanic is a Time-traveller, Angelica imagined the Rugrats and Mary Poppins was a Hogwarts Student.

A Conspiracy theory is an explanation for an event/situation that invokes a conspiracy by sinister/powerful groups often with a political motivation when other explanations are more likely probable/possible. The term has a negative connotation, implying that the appeal to a conspiracy is based on prejudiced/insufficient evidence.

IN THE MOVIE TITANIC, JACK DAWSON IS FROM THE FUTURE.

The RHS Titanic was a British passenger liner operated by the liner business White Star Line that unfortunately sank in the north Atlantic Ocean on her maiden voyage from South Hampton to New York, due to an iceberg in the early hours of April 15th 1912. 1,500 people out of the estimated 2,224 passengers and crew were said to have died in the sinking. Making it one of modern history's deadliest commercial marine disasters. At the time of entering service RMS Titanic was both the largest ship afloat and the second of three Olympic-Class liners operated by White Star Line. The ship was built by the Belfast Shipyard Harland and Wolff and the Chief Navel Architect of the Shipyard at the time Thomas Andrews died in the disaster.

The Movie Titanic released in 1997 was the love story of Jack Dawson and Rose Dewitt Bukater (Based loosely on Romeo and Juliet) set on the famous ship, which gained mainly positive reviews from both critics and audiences, with scholars commenting on the film's cultural, historical and political impacts. Titanic gained an 89% rating due to 192 reviews on the review website Rotten Tomatoes.

THE THEORY:

Jack Dawson is a Time-Traveller.

Who's to say Jack isn't the street-rat he was portrayed as, but a time-traveller committed to ensuring the course of History stays on track. The Theory, which originated on Tumblr Proposed Jack travelled in time to prevent Rose from taking her life and thus altering the ship's course. The temporary delay may have ensured the Titanic may not have hit the iceberg.

What's the evidence to say he is?, Jack doest have the correct currency. He talks of various things that happen in the years after the Sinking of the Titanic, such as fishing on Lake Wissota, which was created five years after the sinking in 1917, the promise to take Rose onto the roller-coaster on the Santa Monica Pier which wasnt built until 1916. No-one else wore their hair floppy or carried backpacks in the 1900's, so where does he get the knowledge of the future?, Simple: The Time Traveller Space Academy school from which he clearly hails from. A second take on the theory ties in the terminator franchise. Rose is the direct ancestor of Sarah Connor and as such its required she lives to ensure the future champion lives.

The Pro's of the Theory:

  1. It adds to the expanded world of the Titanic movie, Showing something extra special came out of a tragedy.

  2. It provides an explanation for Jack being out of place in the early 1900's

  3. kind of lets the writers off the hook for messing around with details.

The Con's of the Theory:

  1. The theory was made out of a few details which shouldn't have been put into the movie and ran with.

  2. Lets the writers off the hook for messing around with details.

  3. People who watch movies en masse have weird imaginations especially over a romantic movie.

I believe the theory is just that a theory. It is however a pretty good one based on the details of Jacks Character which wasnt prevalent in the 1900's and the knowledge he has, which shouldn't be obvious/well known yet for the time.

THE RUGRATS ARE ALL PART OF ANGELICA'S IMAGINATION.

The series focuses on the experiences of a courageous, adventurous one year old baby named Tommy Pickles and his group of playmates-several other infants and toddlers, some of whom were debuted later in the series, included are Chuckie the oldest baby at two years old, twins Phil and Lil, Tommy's baby brother Dil, Angelica- Tommy and Dil's spoilt three year old cousin, Kimi, Chuckie's eventual stepsister and Susie a next door neighbour whose friends with Angelica of sorts due to being a schoolmate.

THE THEORY:

The Rugrats are really part of Angelicas demonised and unimaginable imagination, due to being born a crack baby. Chuckie died in childbirth with his mother leaving his dad a nervous wreck. Tommy was stillborn leaving his dad and angelica's uncle a workaholic in the basement making toys for a kid who didn't live. The Deville's had an abortion leaving angelica wondering if it was a boy or girl thus creating the twins. Kimi had been taken from her mother due to addiction thus angelica only had her stories to go off of. Suzie and Dil were the only living children around. With Suzie often playing along in an attempt to help Angelica through life. Angelica accidentality hurt Dil when he wouldn't “Disappear” like the other children resulting in Dil becoming ill himself.

The theory carries on into All Grown Up, with Angelica having to deal with being both schizophrenic and Bipolar due to being a crack baby and reimagines the babies now ten years older in an attempt to deal with both her illnesses and her guilt over hurting Dill whilst using Hallucinogenics. Angelica dies at 13 due to

Pro's of the Theory:

  1. This Theory shows how early mental illness can happen and is often not picked up until much later on in peoples lives.

  2. Shows How dark the '90's cartoons could be twisted into something else.

  3. Shows the cartoon world can be expanded in any direction, regardless of what it is.

Con's of the Theory:

  1. The theory is created out of very little and added to a world where it's not really needed.

  2. Shows those who watch cartoons can see things not always there.

  3. '90's cartoon really were darker if thought about.

This Theory is in my opinion a good one to view how mental illness can happen, especially seeing it from childhood onwards.

MARY POPPINS WENT TO HOGWARTS AS A STUDENT.

Mary Poppins is the titular character of the movies and books of the same name, Mary Poppins. Mary is a nanny with some magical qualities, which help the banks children who she nannies deal with their life in Edwardian London.

Hogwarts, is the magical boarding school in the Harry Potter books which is situated in the highlands of Scotland, housing many students each year under four houses, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin and teaches the use of magic.

THE THEORY:

Mary Poppins was a Hogwarts Student.

According to the theory. Mary Poppins is a magical user with ties to both the magical and muggle worlds, most likely a half-blood or Muggleborn and due to how the ministry is and needing a job herself, she finds one as a Nanny, resulting in various elements that bring her movie about.

Pro's:

  1. There is a connection through the use of several common place items which could be tampered with magically.

  2. The possibility of the extended Harry Potter Universe and that of Mary Poppins overlap just enough to be relevant to each other.

Con's:

  1. The theory is a means of connecting several recognisable things together and stating their part of the same universe

  2. It excludes the possibility Mary Poppins is a good enough nanny to enrich the children's imagination whilst passing on information/life lessons whilst being clear headed and rooted in reality.

  3. Tires to give a magical explanation for what could bee teachable options seen through children's eyes.

Whilst this theory seams to pretty much grasp at straws in connecting two very popular fan favourites together. However it is a good theory and has just enough to show it as a definite possibility.
