Hey there Earthlings, Alternatives and Trollers. Put down that mouse and lend an ear. Welcome to The Bandersnatch blog where we talk weird, wacky and wondrous. I'm The Bandersnatch and I have no idea what I'm doing.

As you should know Tuesdays is book blog day were we talk about one particular book and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe.

Written as a Short story by American Author Edgar Allen Poe, THE TELL-TALE HEART was published in January 1843 in the pages of James Russell Lowell's The Pioneer and follows an unnamed narrator as they attempt to convince the reader of their sanity all the while describing a murder the narrator committed. The victim an old man with a filmy pale blue “Vulture-eye” as the narrator calls it. The narrator recites his calculation of the murder and attempt at the perfect crime complete with body dismemberment and hiding the body parts. Ultimately the narrators actions result in hearing a loud thumping, which is interpreted as the dead man's beating heart.

The Tell-Tale Heart is considered a classic of the gothic fiction genre and is also considered one of Edgar Allen Poe's best known Short Stories.

Edgar Allen Poe Ne Edgar Poe (January 19th 1809-October 7th 1849), was an American Writer, Poet, Editor and Literary Critic best known for his Poetry and Short stories, in particular his tales involving the macabre and mystery. The expansion of Romanticism and Gothic Fiction in the US can be contributed to Poe being a centralised figure within the movement as within American Literature as a whole, Poe was also a successful practitioner of short stories and is considered the inventor of Detective fiction as well as a serious contributor to Science fiction, which was emerging as a genre at the time. Poe is considered to be the first well known American Writer to earn a living from writing alone, which resulted in Poe having both a difficult financial life and career.
