As you should know Tuesdays is book blog day were we talk about one particular book and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on The Gift of the Maji by O. Henry

The Gift of the Maji is a short story that follows a young couple and how they deal with the challenge of buying secret Christmas gifts for each other with very little money.

The Gift of the Maji was first published on December 10^th 1905 in The New York Sunday World under the title Gifts of the Magi and later published In April 1906 as part of the O. Henry collection The Four Million. The Story was supposedly written at Pete's Tavern on Irving Place in New York City. It's considered to be a very sentimental story with a moral lesson about gift-giving. The plot and its twist ending are well known and generally considered an example of cosmic irony.

William Sydney Porter (September 11^th 1862-June 5^th 1910) better known as O. Henry was an American writer known primarily for his short stories, though he also wrote poetry and non-fiction. Porters stories are known for their naturalist observations, witty narration, and surprise endings.
