Hey there Earthlings, Alternatives and Trollers. Put down that mouse and lend an ear. Welcome to The Bandersnatch blog where we talk weird, wacky and wondrous. I'm The Bandersnatch and I have no idea what I'm doing.

Random blog day boo yah. As you should know Fridays is random blog day were we talk anything and everything and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on Mesothelioma.

Mesothelioma is a cancer of the Mesothelium -the layer of thin tissue that covers several internal organs-, over 80% of Mesothelioma cases is caused by Asbestos exposure with a greater risk the more exposure experienced. As of 2013, about 125 million people have been exposed to asbestos due to asbestos being in products and buildings people use/work with. Work and/or live in. Though the onset of mesothelioma and being exposed to asbestos is usually separated by 40 years. Other risk factors include genetics or a simian virus 40 infection -a polymavirius that effects DNA, which is usually found in monkeys and humans.

The area most commonly effected by this cancer is the lining of the lungs and chest wall. Though less common effected areas is the lining of the abdomen and the sac surrounding the heart. Signs of Mesothelioma includes shortness of breath, a swollen abdomen, chest wall pain, coughing, feeling tired and weight loss. Due to these symptoms being typically slow, the diagnosis is usually noted/recognised based on Chest x-rays and CT Scan findings. The confirmation is usually thanks to the examination of fluid produced by Mesothelioma or a tissue biopsy.
