Hey there Earthlings, Alternatives and Trollers. Put down that mouse and lend an ear. Welcome to The Bandersnatch blog where we talk weird, wacky and wondrous. I'm The Bandersnatch and I have no idea what I'm doing.

Random blog day boo yah. As you should know Fridays is random blog day were we talk anything and everything and pretty much run with it. Today's blog is on Pareidolia

Pareidolia is the tendency for perception to impose interpretation on visual stimuli. Usually seeing an object, pattern or thing where there is none. Pareidolia is a specific but common type of Apophenia (a tendency to see connections between unrelated things or ideas).

Common examples of Pareidolia includes seeing images in cloud formations or in inanimate objects. Lunar Pareidolia involves seeing images in the moon, whilst another concept includes hearing hidden messages in recorded music when playing it backwards or at higher/lower than normal speeds, and hearing voices or magic in random noise such as fans or air conditioners.

Face Pareidolia has been demonstrated and tied to Rhesus Macaques.

Pareidolia is related to age and is frequent amongst patients suffering with either Parkinson's Disease or Dementia with Lewy Bodies syndrome. There have also been several case studies reporting intrusive Pareidolia as a presented symptom in OCD.
